Hurricane Cliffs is the rockier, more technical companion to Warner Valley and the riding area that gives Hurricane its enduro reputation. The trail system sits along the dramatic escarpment directly north of downtown Hurricane, Utah, with panoramic views over the Virgin River valley and Sand Hollow below. Compared to Warner Valley, the Cliffs have more elevation change, steeper technical climbs, and a higher concentration of rock gardens — making it a favorite with intermediate and advanced enduro riders. Combined with Warner Valley, the two connected systems cover over 20,000 acres of designated OHV land. The area is rideable year-round, but the best months are October through April when temperatures stay cool enough for high-effort technical riding.
Hurricane Cliffs is five minutes from downtown Hurricane. From State Street, head north and look for the escarpment rising ahead of you — trailheads branch off as you climb. We can deliver rental bikes directly to the most common staging areas. Expect rougher access roads the farther north you go; the main staging area is paved and easy for trailers.
Hurricane Cliffs is a network of ridgeline single track, steep technical climbs up onto the rim, and connector trails that eventually link south into Warner Valley. Unlike Warner Valley's open washes, the Cliffs are defined by vertical features — benches, ledges, and rocky climbs that reward careful line choice. Riders typically stage at the base and work their way up and along the rim, then drop back down via a different trail.
Multiple overlooks from the top of the escarpment give sweeping views down to Sand Hollow Reservoir, the Virgin River, and the town of Hurricane below.
Several signature climbs test throttle control and line choice. These are what give Hurricane Cliffs its intermediate-to-advanced rating.
Advanced riders can drop off the Cliffs and link directly into Warner Valley's trail network for a big-day loop combining both systems.
Multiple short rock-garden sections along the rim trails. Not extreme, but technical enough to be fun on a well-suspended enduro.
Hurricane Cliffs is not the right first stop for beginners. If it is your first day on a dirt bike or your first trip to Utah, spend a half-day in Warner Valley first to calibrate to the terrain, then come north to the Cliffs. Intermediate riders with off-road experience will be fine; advanced riders will find plenty to push them.
The Husqvarna FE450 is the right bike for Hurricane Cliffs — more power for the technical climbs, with WP XACT suspension tuned for rocky terrain. The FE350s also works well if you prefer a lighter bike that is more forgiving on the technical sections.
Yes. Hurricane Cliffs has more elevation change, more rock, and more technical climbs than Warner Valley. Most riders start their trip in Warner Valley and save the Cliffs for day two.
We do not recommend Hurricane Cliffs as a first ride. Start in Warner Valley's beginner loops to build confidence, then progress to the Cliffs on day two or three once you are comfortable on the bike.
Yes — the two systems are connected and advanced riders frequently chain them into 40-plus mile loops. Bring extra fuel and water, and plan for a full day in the saddle.
