Gould's Rim is the mesa system on the east side of Hurricane, Utah — a high-elevation network of single track that connects Smith Mesa, Little Creek Mesa, Flying Monkey, and the Rattlesnake Gulch descent. It is also the staging ground for the ride to Toquerville Falls. Because the mesas sit several hundred feet above the valley floor, temperatures run cooler than Warner Valley, which extends the prime riding season by a few weeks on either end of summer. The terrain skews more technical than Warner Valley — longer climbs, rockier ridgelines, and steeper descents — making Gould's Rim a favorite for riders who have already spent a day on the easier trails and want to level up. Plan for a half-day on the mesa and a full day if you link into Toquerville Falls.
Gould's Rim is reached from the north side of Hurricane, off State Route 9 heading toward Toquerville. The main climbs onto the mesa start from pullouts along La Verkin Creek and from several staging points along the frontage road. Drive time from downtown Hurricane is about 15 minutes. The access roads get rougher the closer you get to the mesa itself — we recommend letting us deliver the bike rather than trailering a vehicle in.
The Gould's Rim network is organized around four connected mesa-top riding areas. Smith Mesa sits to the south, Little Creek Mesa to the north, and Flying Monkey sits between them. Rattlesnake Gulch is the main descent trail that drops off the east side toward Toquerville Falls. All four connect into a web of single track that lets riders spend a half-day exploring without repeating terrain. Most loops run 15 to 25 miles depending on which mesas you include.

The main technical descent off Gould's Rim toward the Toquerville Falls drainage. Advanced only — rocky, rutted, steep in places.
Gould's Rim is an intermediate-to-advanced area. Mesa-top single track is manageable for confident intermediate riders, but Rattlesnake Gulch and the descents toward Toquerville Falls are firmly advanced terrain. If this is your first day on a dirt bike or your first trip to Utah, spend the morning in Warner Valley before heading up to the mesa.
The Husqvarna FE450 is the most common pick for Gould's Rim — the extra power matters on the long climbs back up onto the mesa. Confident intermediate riders often prefer the FE350s for its lighter, more forgiving feel through the rocky sections.
Not as a first ride. The mesa-top single track is manageable for intermediate riders, but the descents off the rim — particularly Rattlesnake Gulch — are advanced terrain. Start in Warner Valley on day one and move up to Gould's Rim on day two or three.
The Rattlesnake Gulch descent drops from the east side of Gould's Rim into the La Verkin Creek drainage, which leads to Toquerville Falls. Plan for a full day and consider a guided ride — route finding in this area is not trivial.
A typical Smith Mesa / Little Creek Mesa loop runs 15 to 25 miles and takes three to four hours including stops. Adding Flying Monkey and a drop to Toquerville Falls turns it into a full-day ride.
